Performance art shopping

You know the types. They're the people who think you want to be involved in their shopping experience. You're shopping, minding your own business and they're playing to you! Talking extra loud in the aisle by you, trying to be funny - to engage you in their "stuff". Only they're not - funny.

The worst ones have kids. They really think they are clever and funny. Especially places like WalMart...all dressed in NASCAR (or Hawkeye...same difference - I know my bias is showing) outfits.

Of course there are the "solo" players. Those are the people on cell phones, bellowing loudly as if those things don't have good microphones. It may have been impressive 10 years ago when everyone and their bro didn't have cellies. But hey, now we all gots 'em! You're not so special! And guess what? We're not so sure you're not just pretending to talk to someone...

Okay, rant over. Just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for being there for me.

I've been reading about these women writing "mommy blogs" who are reaping big rewards. They have lots of followers and thus market power. So they're asked to test drive cars, try cell phones and other cool stuff.

Hey - companies! I'm here - I have at least fifteen followers. I'm a fifty something mommy! Where's my stuff? I could try wrinkle cream, foot pads, cell phones for bad eyes and ears...the list could go on and on! What about vacation and retirement spots?

Bass Pro and my diet

I've been in the shopping doldrums since Christmas...until this week anyway. I just haven't been able to pull the trigger. Oops guess we're not supposed to used gun references anymore. Oh well...I am married to a hunter..

Guess I'm feeling poor. Perhaps it's the change in Governors...but I had a $5 off coupon from my good friend Eddie. You know Eddie Bauer? He likes that I've spent some of my hard earned cash at his place this past year, so he shelled out a whole $5 - but I had to use it by 1/24. So I found a nice purple pull over for $24 earlier this week at Valley West.

And I was very tempted to buy some shoes at Von Mauer - in the sale room for $45. Half price! But when it came down to it, I just couldn't justify those babies. So I walked away. Paul will be so proud!

Today was time sheet day - I got 10 hours of comp time in the past two weeks and that was with me leaving work at 3:30 today. And I have a meeting here in DM tomorrow so I wasn't heading home...so I went east to Bass Pro where they often have good sale prices on active wear. That's what we call the kind of clothes I like...the not too dressy stuff. Columbia, North Face and more.

I ended up scoring (a sports term, yes, but not a gun term) some grey jeans and an orange Henley for $10. Got a green shirt for Pablo the Pool Boy too.

My diet has sucked this week. Traveling makes it difficult to eat healthy. My lack of willpower is also part of the problem! I hope to get back on the wagon now that I'm done with those dang audits. I have walked on the treadmill the past couple nights. yay me.

Shoppin' with Debbie

I was dress shopping with Debbie today. Remind me to shop with a fat chick next time. Jeez she's so fit and trim. I felt like a flabby fanny next to her. Probably cuz I am flabby.

I spend my time blogging rather than working out. It's all for you my fine readers! (right - it's because my ass is so lazy). We were in Dress Barn, and she pulled those size 6 dresses over her head, and her buff arms bulged and and her trim waist looked fine. I drooled with envy. Not enough to get up from this computer and work out though. She works hard to get that figure.

So she found her dream dress and a cute top at the first store. I didn't. I tried on a moomoo (is that how you spell that?) - needed flipflops and a drink with an umbrella to go with it. Ugleee. The other two were ixnay as well. Deb had them hold her cute clothes and we went off to see what else was out there.

We stopped at Steinmart. Nothing there was worth getting naked over. So we were off across the street to the mall. We hit Younkers. I tried a few dresses on in the ladies section. Deb was feeling the pressure to "get Leslie a dress". No luck there, but I remember across, behind the purses there was a whole dress section. We headed there.

There were tons to choose from! Once we each secured a dressing room we were off to the races. I tried on 5, but the one I found on the "Day Dress" rack 30% off was the winner! They only had size 10 and 14 though, so I need to get it altered - or adjusted as Paul calls it. Ahhh it feels good to have one purchase down - 1 to go for the Alvillar wedding.

Shopping in style

I switched to my Dooney and Bourke purse last weekend. The Younkers lady complimented me on it yesterday as I paid for Pablo's new jeans - he ripped his old new jeans on a barbed wire fence while working. I was mighty pleased that the Younkers lady noticed my new designer purse.

So I walked with pride at Jordan Creek tonight. I had to go to Gap to look for plain white tees - to replace last years. It seems the underarms were looking kinda yellowish. Must be my deodorant. Can't be my armpits! I'm sure the Gap clerk was impressed with my purse.

I felt quite stylish between my new haircut and my purse, I must say. I stopped to get a hair product at one of those hair product store. I know - I'm getting you know. Snobby! But I've tried to get my WalMart purchased product to do the right thing with my hair and it's just not working. This stuff was $19 - avert your eyes Pablo...so it better work. If it doesn't, the good news is that I can take it back.

After stopping for hair junk, I ran into an old friend Tom Sullivan - we called him Sully. I had a crush on him before I fell for Mr. Poolboy. He's a veterinarian, and is married to Allison also a vet. I was just thinking about the fact that I hadn't seen Tom nor Allison since I've worked here. And Walla - here he was. We stood outside Scheels and caught up.

It was sure nice to see him - nice guy. Spent a lot of good times with that bunch - skiing, and in Wisconsin at Ridgeland. Paul has had fun pheasant hunting with Tom and our other buddy Mike through the years. I don't think Tom noticed the purse...or my hair.
