Jimmy Johns Jones and I'm a princess

I seem to have a Jimmy John's Jones lately. At least once a week I'm up for a #2 (Big John - it's roast beef - real stuff not that fakey pressed crap, lettuce, tomato) no mayo/sauce (that's oil and vinegar for you un-educated ones), no cheese. Plus I'm liking their ice tea. I take my Tervis thermal with the screw on lid and pack it full of ice so it will last all day. Then I sit on a bench in the shade on Locust Street and read a publication or my smart phone. Good stuff!

At least I had my nails done at Princess Nails tonight. The last couple times I've had them done (except for that time in Creston, when Curtiss Bird's Mom did them...) the gal that did them kinda ignored me, and spoke her native tongue to the person next to her. I imagined her saying mean things about me...

Tonight - that nice young man, Tran, made me his princess. Because there were no other customers I guess. I got an extra long leg rub. He ask about my family. He turned on the chair "massga" - he couldn't quite say massage.

He couldn't quite get rid of my callus from walking...little toe - okay they may not look the best ever, but he was nice dammit!
Tran is Vietnamese and has lived in this country six years. I could understand nearly everything he said! He was a sweet kid. He kept asking if he was doing okay - I was a little embarrassed. Then he went a little crazy when he painted artwork on my big toe. Like I said - slow day. There has been construction on 22nd Street and I think it's taken its toll on the biz. So if you get a chance, go see Tran - nice guy.

Last night I shopped at Von Maur at Valley West. It's an upscale department store that employs piano players for its Baby Grand Piano. I love hearing them play. I feel rich shopping there - and mostly one needs to be! I did buy an ISU shirt Monday night. Plus I checked out the sandals in the sale room, but didn't see anything. But never fear - Bertha Bruise got her some Merrills at the Fit to Be Tied store.

I always think of Odie when I see this doormat.

I want to lick your face - look into my eyes
Today I was in Subaru Heaven. Got the oil changed in my 2009 Outback - the waiting room was full, and one fam even had a baby. So I sat outside on a gorgeous summer day and gazed upon the selections. I drooled a little.

I clicked my heels together

And said, "there's no place like home" and magically, I appeared in my comfy chair in my living room! No...not really. I drove my car - my trusty Subaru - which is like a comfy pair of ruby red slippers.

Today I was itching to get out of town - back to Creston. It's been a long stretch of work - since late September when I organized our first Environmental Management System (EMS)Audit through this week, after completing six audits and now the workshop. I'm beat! As I said in my blog of a couple days ago - the workshop went well...it finished up yesterday with a half day. The evaluations were good. Yay!
Continental - a drink from the bar sounded enticing, but I held back!
When the workshop finished up yesterday, I went to luncheon at the Continental - on Locust at about 4th in the East Village with Laura and Christine. We talked mostly shop. I had a nice blackened chicken sannie. After that, Laura had to catch a flight back to Dallas.

I spent the afternoon figuring out how to update information on the EMS website. Then I heard from my honey PGG, that he was in town having work done on his car. We decided to meet at HuHot for supper. That place is good! You fill a bowl with raw meats, fish, crab, veggies and noodles. Then you pick a group of sauces to dump over the top and take it to an open griddle for men to grill for you. There is white rice to eat with it back at your table. Yum!

After supper we took a walk around Sports Authority, but didn't find anything we couldn't live without. All too soon it was time for Paul to head back to Creston. I went to Joan's to watch TV. My shoulders were so tight from a week of stress! Guess I'll need to contact my friendly masseuse Chris soon to get the kinks worked out. But for now - tomorrow, I get to work at home. I like that perk of my job!

Date night

Okay not much of a date, but my honey buns did come to DSM tonight. It was car fixin' week for the Goldsmiths. I took my car in to Ramsey Subaru Tuesday for some warranty work - a notice I received about the computer needing to be reset.

But in the meantime, Paul's car had developed a jiggle in the steering wheel a certain speeds, so he made an appointment for Wednesday. I usually bring his car up when it gets regular service, but didn't want to wait to get his car in for a whole 'nother week! AND in the meantime, Jud called his daddy last night to report that the Jeep had shaken wildly at 55+ mph driving home from work. (Thank God Pablo gets those automotive calls from the kids - I just get the computer calls) Paul told him to take it in to a shop in St. Joe.

So, a side benefit for me to Paul's Ramsey trip is a meet-up afterwards! We got together at Marshall's - where he bought me a nice dress for the Peterson wedding at the end of the month. What a nice guy! We proceeded to Sportmart where he couldn't help but get me a couple exercise items (a skort and some compression shorts - he does love my butt, or so he says...).

Then it was on to man-heaven - Home Depot. Though he was really quite restrained there. We headed right for the back splash tile, and he didn't veer. Damn! He let me forget to look for a unit to put bird seed in. We have an mouse in our chair pad storage unit because he's put his birdseed in there. I know! That's just not right! There should not be mice near me. Ever! I do not like them. Those tiny little beady eyed things make me crazy.

We found some tile samples to check out for $50. (Unlike checking out samples in Creston, Iowa - which we can do with our good name...) We get our $ back when we return the samples. The backsplash above the kitchen sink is going to look awesome!

We ended the evening with an early (before the rush) meal at Hu Hot. You get your bowl of meats, fish, noodles, veggies and sauce and take it to a big wok to be fried up by quiet little men with metal tools. It was yummy! We enjoyed being together on a Wednesday. (especially me cuz I got new stuff).

Rob Grill, the lead singer of The Grass Roots, died yesterday. He was 67.
Sha La - La, La, La, La live for today. Reminds me of the very first cassette I got for my fabulous lil tape player I got for Christmas in about 6th grade. I likely wore that tape out. RIP Rob. And remember ya'll - Live for today!
Then Paul stopped by Joan's on his way out of town and pumped up my bike tires that were down to 40 psi - they're supposed to be at 100! So I'll be cruising now. All because of my honey.
